He was there to witness the destruction of Earth, he's always had what seemed to be a mental link with at least one of the skin jobs (who knows...maybe there have been more of them rattling around that braincase?), and if John/Cavil hated Daniel so much, what better punishment than to have him not only bear witness to man's destruction, but to also share in the responsibility of it? I almost fell out of my chair, it makes sense in this frakked world of BSG. So sick and twisted that it's beautiful irony. How does Starbucks non-decayed body get to Earth? If those events of the holocaust occured so long ago then you'd think that Starbuck's remains would well not remain yes? I am all over the place on this now. So maybe that was him. Maybe John's tampering with the other 'Daniel' models meant he just out and out slaughtered every damn one of them (perhaps out of petty jealousy? The Daniel model had seen through his scheme? Daniel always made better chili, and John couldn't take it anymore?). This would, of course, mean that Starbuck is actually the hybrid child, which is kind of a potentially crazy cool plot concept.
